It was my first time trying Indian food! I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but wow! I did definitely enjoy my meal! It was different but delicious! The service was great, and the staff members were attentive and kind. The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed the music. I would for sure come again! The food portion was a great size, it's extremely filling. I'm not sure what we were served in the beginning, but it was like a tostada shell and it tasted like mole !!

I've only done take-out, but the food has been exceptional every time. In my humble opinion, you can't go wrong with the Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer, or Garlic Naan. Personally, I like it spicy, but to those of you who "think" you like spicy, be careful because they really bring the heat. Not to worry, they'll cook your dish according to your heat preference.

One good clue that you've come to the right Indian restaurant is when you look around, and everyone else in the place is Indian. That was the case with Heart of India when we visited recently. Great food, great service, and an extensive menu. I was really surprised to find a wide variety of seafood, which you don't always see in Indian restaurants. But be aware, if you ask for it hot, they're not playing. It's gonna be hot. A really good mango lassi will help with that, though. Overall, we were really pleased. And we WILL be back.

Food was great, delicious. Had the butter chicken and saag paneer lunch special. I ordered a garlic naan and it was delicious and coated with garlic butter. I was pleasantly surprised by this place and I have to say the food was better than the two other places I frequent for Indian food. Food is reasonably priced m and service was fast and friendly. The place is clean and tidy. The ambiance is okay-- it's located at the mall in the food court so expect loudness and lots of people. They do to-go orders too! The restaurant offers, Indo-Chinese cuisine as well, and also offers snacks or what I would call street food. Their soda machine is not working at the moment so if you want a beverage, you will have to buy a can or a bottle. I am looking forward to the next opportunity to try something else from the menu. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures, I was so hungry! Enjoy!

I tried Heart of India for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at the great selection and flavors. Before visiting I went to another new place and 3/4ths of the dishes were empty at 11:45 AM, so I bailed! Previously I ate at Haveli, Viceroy and India Bistro so it's nice to have a new solid restaurant. The flavors were not over salted and tasted fresh. I thought the chicken dishes and goat were wonderful! The Tandoori was moist, pretty and not dried out like so many. I would definitely go back again, it's a great place and nice people.

Awesome awesome food. Best ever we had in California. Hope they open their restaurant in the by area. Perfect for a stop while road tripping to Vegas or LA.

Visited this place a few times now, but someone told me this place isn't even here anymore. I am yet to go back. I do know that they have one in the mall now. Indian food is probably my top cuisine after my own culture because Indian food is flavorful, bold and spicy. The service was nice and the staff was very friendly, but I have tried so many other different Indian restaurants in Bakersfield and this one is up there, but not my number 1. Every time I have visited it wasn't that busy, it seemed to have a consistent flow of people, but not packed. I have never visited during lunch rush, but I have come in the evenings. The reason why I did not give a full 5 stars is because the food was inconsistent to me, one time our food felt like they dropped the salt shaker inside the food and it was super salty, but we still gave them another try another time and it was perfect, so I'm not sure if they have several cooks, but we've only encountered that once. Parking is not an issue at all because there's tons of parking outside. If you're unsure what to get always ask for recommendations, everything is delicious and being vegetarian is easy if this was my cuisine because everything from the potatoes to the cauliflower and everything else is soo good. You should definitely check them out if you haven't tried them yet.
